Sprung from One Woman's Dream

Eleanor Howe Marston opened her Sandy Spring, Md., farmhouse to the elderly more than 50 years ago. She began a tradition of “touching people’s lives” through a commitment to total well-being and a philosophy of service and care. Now, this 220-acre natural retreat is called the Brooke Grove Retirement Village—a place where one woman’s dream of compassion and kindness is reflected in the people who fill this vibrant community with energy and spirit.

Brooke Grove pioneered the community-living concept in Montgomery County, and for more than half a century has been an industry leader in assisted living, rehabilitation, skilled nursing and Alzheimer’s services, providing a continuum of care for older adults. Marston’s grandson, a certified medical director trained in geriatrics, supervises resident care, keeping the family dream alive. With the addition of The Cottages in 2004 and 2005, Brooke Grove Retirement Village has become a full-service continuing care retirement community.

Today, the Brooke Grove Foundation operates three communities. In addition to the Brooke Grove Retirement Village, Brooke Grove Foundation also has the Williamsport Retirement Village, located in Williamsport, Md., and Rest Assured Living in Meyersdale, Pa.
