Sprung from One Woman's Dream

Imagine a 220-acre natural retreat of towering oaks and secluded meadows. Imagine grandchildren playing in the yard and people stopping to say, "Hello." Imagine a setting where magnificent sunsets complete your every day. This is Brooke Grove Retirement Village-a place where one woman's dream of compassion and kindness is reflected in the people who fill this vibrant community with energy and spirit.

Eleanor Howe Marston opened her Sandy Spring, Md., farmhouse to the elderly more than 50 years ago. She began a tradition of "touching people's lives" through a commitment to total well-being and a philosophy of service and care.

Brooke Grove pioneered the community-living concept in Montgomery County, and for more than half a century has been an industry leader in assisted living, rehabilitation, skilled nursing and Alzheimer's services, providing a continuum of care for older adults. Marston's grandson, a certified medical director trained in geriatrics, supervises resident care, keeping the family dream alive.

With the addition of The Cottages in 2004 and 2005, Brooke Grove Retirement Village has become a full-service continuing care retirement community. Long the choice of those seeking unequaled quality of life in retirement, Brooke Grove now offers spacious duplex homes that extend its exceptional tradition of quality and service to more individuals seeking to make the most of their retirement years. Residents enjoy a maintenance-free lifestyle with others who look to grow in health of mind, body and spirit. They have more time to explore the cultural riches of nearby Washington, D.C., and Baltimore and to stay connected to the life they love.

Today, the story of Brooke Grove continues to be told by the special people who live and work here. Brooke Grove Retirement Village is one of three communities operated by the Brooke Grove Foundation. Williamsport Retirement Village, located in Williamsport, Md., and Rest Assured Living in Meyersdale, Pa., are two other communities operating under Brooke Grove Foundation.
