Brooke Grove Foundation is pleased to welcome Fatima Naqvi, MD, as medical director of Brooke Grove Retirement Village (BGRV).
A person-centered care provider and advanced care planning advocate, Dr. Naqvi is a dedicated physician who has been serving the needs of older adults for more than 15 years. She is a certified medical director and is board-certified in geriatrics, family medicine and hospice/palliative care. She is also a MOLST (Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment) master trainer.
In her role as the vice chair of MedStar Health's Center for Successful Aging (CSA) — Montgomery County, Dr. Naqvi is responsible for ensuring a system of care that meets the needs of older adults receiving care at MedStar Health-related facilities. CSA's partnership with BGRV reflects the organizations' mutual commitment to the health and well-being of seniors.
Dr. Naqvi began her journey overseas. That journey brought her to the United States, where she did her residency at Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center. This is when she discovered her passion for caring for older adults, resulting in a move to New York for a Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at SUNY Stony Brook University. She completed her academic training with a Harvard Medical School Fellowship in their Palliative Care Educational Program.
Dr. Naqvi's numerous accomplishments include her selection as 2019 Medical Director of the Year by the American Medical Director's Association. She has also served as an educator at the University of Maryland and George Washington University.
Dr. Naqvi offers an empathy and compassion for older adults that can only be found in those who have been a caregiver for a beloved family member. Her devotion is reflected in the way she practices medicine each day at BGRV.
