Effective October 1, MedStar Health's Center for Successful Aging (CSA) began partnering with Brooke Grove Retirement VIllage (BGRV) to provide onsite medical services at Brooke Grove Rehabilitation and Nursing Center (BGRNC) and The Meadows/The Woods assisted living.
Ted Howe, M.D., continues in his administrative role as Brooke Grove Foundation's medical director, while CSA's George Hennawi, M.D., leads a team of physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in providing patient care on campus. Dr. Hennawi is board-certified in geriatrics, palliative medicine and inernal medicine, and joins his colleagues in their dedication to delivering person-centered care based on the values and preferences of individual patients.
CSA's comprehensive ambulatory center, slated to open next spring on the campus of MedStar Montgomery Medical Center (MMC) in Olney, will coordinate services specifically designed to meet the needs of seniors. Using an interdisciplinary approach to address the confluence of chronic medical conditions, geriatric syndromes and social determinants of health, CSA strives to reduce medical complications and trips to the hospital. "We believe this program will enhance communication and coordination of care between MMC and BGRV and across the health care continuum," noted BGRV Regional Administrator Patty Anderson.
