“The Chamber truly values its special relationship with
Brooke Grove Foundation and all the support you have given the
Chamber and the Olney community,” wrote then OCC President
Phil Wilk in a letter to BGF President Keith Gibb announcing the
recognition this spring.
According to former OCC President Paula Kahla, the award was created
with the hope that it would inspire, encourage and promote partnerships
within the Olney community. One way in which BGRV supported the
organization was by hosting the 40th Anniversary Celebration of
the OCC at a breakfast meeting held in March at Brooke Grove Rehabilitation
and Nursing Center.
The Chamber annually recognizes individuals and businesses who
have distinguished themselves by their dedication and commitment
to making the OCC and the Olney community a better place to live
and work. Others recognized at this year’s awards reception
were Joe Buffington of RE/MAX Realty Center (Business Person of
the Year), the Olney and Sandy Spring Lions Clubs (Community Service
Awards), Our House (Youth Service Award) and First Olney Chamber
President Clyde Unglesbee (President’s Award).
